Color-Code Your Books

Will and I love books and have acquired quite the collection in our apartment.

I am always trying to figure out a way to organize them so that

a) we can easily find what we are looking for,

and

b) they are more aesthetically pleasing.

I think organizing them by color is the way to go. Let's get started.

First, clear your shelves of all of your books. Take this chance to gently wipe away any dust that has gathered, and clean the shelf service.

Stack the books all facing the same way, so you can clearly see the color of the spine of each book.

Begin making stacks of books grouped by color of the spine.

Once you have your books grouped together in the way you like, you can begin to put them back on the shelves.

Add in different pieces that go with your color palette to complete your new library.

VOILA!

A lovelier library.

this is so great. but where are all the black and white spines?

Good question. I have them all together going on a separate shelf that is being re-vamped at the moment. That will be the second installment. The black and white books look really clean and crisp all together.
