This/That

This weekend I....

+ Wore this caftan while lounging by the pool.

+ Stayed at this amazing resort and spa that I must return to as soon as humanly possible.

+ Had a massage that can only be described as a spiritual experience. I may never be the same.

+ Watched this dear friend of mine marry the love of her life. I've known and adored her for 22 years, and being a part of this weekend was an honor and pleasure.

+ Sat at this exquisitely set table for same-said wedding and feasted on delicious food with my closest girlfriends in the world. What a wonderful weekend filled with love, laughter, and dear friends.

I hope your Memorial Day weekend was as lovely as mine was.

This/That: Family Wedding Edition

Celebrated this.

This weekend my darling baby brother, Matt, married his best friend and love, Danielle. It was a lovely weekend filled with family and fun and lots of love. Matt and I have had this strong soul connection since he was just a little nugget, and to see him radiate pure happiness and love on his special day was no less than breath taking. My sister-in-law is incredibly smart, genuinely sweet, gorgeous, and absolutely adores my sweet brother. She sees him for exactly who he is and embraces every aspect of his goofy, ambitious, hilarious, endlessly loving soul. I wish them all the happiness in the world as they start their life together as husband and wife.

Wore this.

I was too busy helping (and being emotional, whoamIkidding) to bring my camera and capture all of the details, but my phone got a few snapshots of the beautiful event. I'll share more with you when the stunning professional photos by Katelyn James are ready.

Here's to marrying your best friend!

DIY Fringe Tassel Garland

The 2nd installment of The Knot's DIY Wedding Series that I worked on launched this week, with today's video showing you how to make a fun and festive tassel garland. This easy technique is quick to learn and can be interpreted in several ways.

You can make a garland as I did for my best friend's shower above or layer your tassels and hang like I did for my Hot Tom Party below.

Learn how by watching the video below. Enjoy!

DIY Brooch + Bauble Bouquet

I had the pleasure and honor of collaborating with The Knot, mecca for all things WEDDING, to be a part of their new The Knot Live launch. They needed several DIY projects executed, so I took on a slew of fun and pretty projects at once and filmed them ALL IN ONE DAY. The very first video, my DIY Brooch Bauble Bouquet launched this week, and there will be a new video released each week. As always, you were the first to get sneak peeks here on Nest, and now you can see the final results in the video above or by clicking this link.

The Knot Series: Up-Date

One of the many projects I have been working on in the last few weeks was wrapping up a shoot with The Knot for their DIY Wedding Series, starring moi (said like Miss Piggy for funsies). I worked sweat-shop-style on several projects for the series and am thrilled to be a part of it. It will air in mid-late February and I will share it with you here. I promise a plethora of pretty projects for brides and anyone who likes lovely things.

DIY Wedding Project: Bauble Bouquet

As I crawl through the trenches of an Epic DIY Weekend I can't help but pause to share some of the creations I am making with you. You, and only you, will see these until they air in video form on The Knot in January. One project that they asked for was a non traditional bouquet, using either fabric or jewelry. I have a huge collection of vintage family jewelry that I have whipped together with some supplies to make into a Bauble Bouquet. You will see the full how-to soon enough.

I need to up-grade the handle to make it sturdier, but the overall design is set and ready and I am loving how it looks.

The above branches will be spray-painted gold, the fringe will be turned into garlands, the below to-do list will be accomplished, and every craft supply I own will be packed, all before I turn into a pumpkin at go time Monday morning.

After all this is checked off the list, I plan on continuing my one-woman Santa's workshop as I am indeed, MAKING ALMOST ALL OF MY CHRISTMAS GIFTS THIS YEAR. What are YOU getting into this weekend? Making presents, buying presents, or both?

Epic DIY Weekend

I am working on an epic shoot day with The Knot where I will be creating 6 DIY Wedding videos for the Bridal Bible.Within each video will be 2-3 DIYs. It has been really fun diving into this and I just wanted to share a little sneak peek.

There will be 3 different DIY escort card ideas shown, and this is one of my favorites. A little untraditional, but truly lovely and unique. Just add a strip of gold Washi tape on one side of a cut piece of cardstock paper. Handwrite the guests name on the paper, and weight it down on the person's place setting with a raw geode.

I'll share a few more sneak peeks with you as the ideas flesh out through the week and weekend. The segments should air in January and you'll be the first to know when. In the meantime, I hope to have the time and wherewithal to make a behind-the-scenes video to let you in on the action. If you really want that to happen feel free to send a couple of interns my way.
