Quick Tips Series Debut

The *Quick Tips Series* is live/has begun/is so ready to be watched by YOU! Click here to see the playlist and let me know what you think in a comment.

The music is stellar, as it was written and recorded by my insanely handsome and talented husband, Will Cole aka Willie Dictionary. You dig?

Moonrise Kingdom Opens Tonight

In addition to my *Quick Tips Series* debut, Wes Anderson's new film/masterpiece opens in theaters today! I can't wait to see Moonrise Kingdom and might need to change my evening plans of watching bad tv with good friends for 2 tickets to see my favorite director do it again. To tide us over, a possibly drunk Bill Murray gives us a sneak peek and little tour of the set below, and you can take a gander at the tralier here for the highly-anticipated film.

Quick Tips Series Debut!

*Quick Tips* are short & sweet helpful hints for you and your home. I am so excited about today's debut of the new series and am thrilled to announce that to kick things off right, today at noon you will get THREE brand-spanking-new Quick Tips in your in-box when you subscribe to MACC. And even more exciting is next week you will get ONE TIP A DAY! From then on Quick Tips will come to you every Friday, along with DIY home decor and fashion videos. See you soon with tips aplenty!

Genevieve Jones' To-Die-For Fabric Panels

I die for this fabric. Just die for it.

Mola

This is a handmade mola from South America that my grandfather brought back from Panama in the 60's or 70's . It hung in my grandparents basement for my entire childhood and I was a little scared of the snakes when I was little. It is such a gorgeous nostalgic piece and I really adore it. Today it hangs in our living room proudly.

DIY Gem Sunglasses

Need a little something special to rock this Memorial Day/ALL SUMMER LONG? These (way easy) DIY Bedazzled Sunglasses are just what P. Diddy's white party is asking for! They have the perfect ratio of fabulousness and hilarity and dead seriousness, so "prepare for greatness, Lloyd."

The lovely and oh-so-fun gals from Emotistyle joined me on MACC for this video, and it was so jamp-packed with giggles AND SONGS that I included the outtakes in a video. AND I joined the ladies on their channel for a really fun Outfit of the Day, complete with talk of making out and sharks and cats. Chiggity check it before you wreck it.

You might find these hanging from m'face.

Tiger Cloud

One of my favorite possessions. A vintage tiger planter I bought in an antique store in Harrisonburg, Virginia while attending my brother's college graduation. It was under $20. I woulda paid $200.

Blueridge Over the Bed

As I mentioned I will be sharing little glimpses of corners of my home via Instagram (Gracie looks SO good with that Rise filter). Above is my so-cozy-I-can't-seriously-be-expected-to-leave-it BED. Hanging above the be is a series of my Colorblock Mountain Paintings. Um, YES, one of them was painted by MARTHA STEWART. Ahhh, goodnight.

Mother's Day Special

Mother's Day is this weekend and there are a lot of NEW moms up in this piece. I joined forces with Jordan Reid from the Digs channel's Jordan in the House to come up with the perfect gift for new moms.

Mom's with tiny babies want to be able to track their growth with an adorable handmade growth chart, but don't often have the time to whip them up. We show you a really easy way to make one for the new mom in your life to show her you are her to help. My sister, Catherine, is momma to my precious nephew Aidan, and is having my new little niece this summer (squeeee!), so the tree growth chart is going home to Alexandria, VA to her. Look how cute they turned out to be!

Here are the templates you'll need for the animal growth chart. Customize it to how you want it, or in the theme of the new babies nursery. If it's handmade, you can't go wrong.

The Fox template can also be made into adorable ear muffs as shown in this MACC video. P-p-panda bear head will be up soon!

My Nest on Instagram

Instagram is such a perfect way to share a little slice of my home with you, so each week I will be posting one or two on the blog. The above image is the faux stained glass window in our living room that covers the side of the apartment with the less-than-perfect view. The below is our mid-century pole lamp that belonged to our neighbor, Sue. She passed away in 2005, and her family knew how much Will and I loved and looked our for her, so they let us have a few of her classic mid-century pieces. I love having a little bit of Sue in our home.

An automaton is a self-moving machine made out of wood, metal, or paper. It is the perfect invitation to a crafter or maker to get down and dirty and create one of their very own!

While on a paper art kick, I thought I'd try my hand at the art of automata, and in today's video break it down and show you how to make an old school Nintendo Mario Brothers paper automaton. To download the Mario template and for more information on the art of automata check out my CRAFT blog on the video.
