Words from Gloria Steinem.

"Any woman who chooses to behave like a full human being should be warned that the armies of the status quo will treat her as something of a dirty joke. That's their natural and first weapon. She will need her sisterhood."

"A woman reading Playboy feels a little like a Jew reading a Nazi manual."

"I have yet to hear a man ask for advice on how to combine marriage and a career."

"Unless we include a job as part of every citizen's right to autonomy and personal fulfillment, women will continue to be vulnerable to someone else's idea of what need is."

Thank you, to this incredible woman who has fought for equal rights, led the feminist movement, and shown women to create choices for ourselves. I have previously posted about her here. Learn more about Steinem's work this and this.

I do love Gloria Steinem, but comparing playboy to Nazis?
I am a feminist who enjoys porn and the beauty of the female body. I would like to think that we would be able to get along. However I think the reality is that even though we both fall under the feminist category, we simply can not see eye to eye.

I wouldn't, personally, compare Playboy to Nazis, but I do celebrate Steinem being the first voice to stand up against the female form being exploited. I appreciate her being a strong female voice in a sea of men, bringing awareness to what so many people take for granted. Everyone has their individual right to enjoy whatever they want, but there is such an imbalance in how the male and female body is exploited and exposed in our culture. Gloria Steinem was bringing awareness to this in a bold way.
Feminism, to me, is accepting and celebrating each individual woman's opinion and their right to express it as freely as men do. Not judging women is the most feminist move we can make.
