xoxThurmanxox

This was our Thurman. He was our first rescue, and we always keep him in our hearts and daily conversation. With the odds stacked against him Thurman was the kind of dog most people pass on. He was a senior, he was obese, he had chronic health problems and had been neglected and abused.

Let him be a reminder to never pass up on a friend because of such things. Adopt the under-dog and you will be deeply rewarded. Thurman was, by far, the best friend you could ever hope for. He was loyal and kind and had the sweetest heart. He was absolutely hilarious in everything he did. He worked so hard with us to get the weight off, and together, we gave him two years of an amazing life. He would have never given up, and loved everyone he met, despite his experiences with abusive humans.

Rescuing Thurman is one of the best things I have ever done in my life. He taught me more than I thought possible, and showed me how deeply I can love. Even when I am an old, wrinkly lady, I will think of our sweet beagle and smile.

I love you, Bubba! Always.

how incredibly sweet! i had several beagles growing up and they will always hold a special spot in my heart. my childhood beagle, Freckles, was also the most loyal and wonderful best friend a girl could ever ask for!!!

mad love for T-dog!

i vividly remember the time i was sick on the couch, and Thurman came out of the bathroom with a single pack of Tylenol in his mouth.

As a child, I kept bringing lost starving dogs home and we had up to 10 dogs.Fortunately we lived on a farm with lots of land for the dogs to roam around. Last year,my sons and husband adopted 2 mixed (infamous pitbulls) from the Yonkers pound. They are so incredibly loving, kind and enjoy every precious day...

Man, I love you guys. I kinda thought people might think I was "the weird dog girl" when I started bringing Thurman and Gracie into Nest. Thanks to you lovely people with huge hearts, I don't feel as awkward.
People who love animals, are the people I can get down with.
xoxo, Meg

what a lovely doggie and a lovely story. our kitty, Edie, was an adopted stray and is the light of our lives. she has myriad health problems from dermatitis to, I kid you not, an eating disorder, but bears them with grace and has the most beautiful nature that even non-cat people love her. It is strange, but lovely isn't it, that abandoned animals often have the sweetest personalities. I am sure that Thurman must have loved you back 10x :o)

From one beagle lover to another...*hug*. I've got a sweet beagle boy, and I totally understand how special they are.

I love all the pictures you have of Thurman, and of Gracie too!

I've only been a dog owner for about 5 years, but I can't imagine life without them now.
