NEW, For Your Nest

Enderby Designs now has a lovely little section devoted to your home.

The For Your Nest section in the Enderby shop has a collection of unique vintage pieces that I have found, cleaned, and prepared just for you.

With classy cocktail hour tumblers....

....to lush, comfy pillows in MOD + vintage fabulous fabrics....

......to 1970's Flora & Fauna Wall Hangings, you are bound to find a perfect vintage piece for your pad here.

A collection of vintage pieces, retro finds, and a new line of 1970's Wall Hangings. This series is inspired by the MOD Scandinavian stretched canvas wall hangings from the 1970's.

With browns, yellows and stark silhouettes of flora and fauna. Made out of recycled vintage fabric panels and has two loops for easy hanging. They can also be used as a unique table covering or dresser cloth.

Trashion Trunkshow Coverage

Thank you to everyone on the EtsyTrashion Team, the Friday's Trunk Show at the Etsy Labs here in Brooklyn. It was a successful event and a lot of fun and talent packed into a two-hour party.

Read my feature on it here on the EtsyTrashion blog.

Mushroom Series

I love vintage mushroom prints and illustrations of the unique and strange fungi.

They have inspired a new series of canvas tote bags available now in my shop Enderby Designs.

The top Mushroom Print is by Wolf and the Sneak and can be found in Modishoppe along with these goodies. The Green Mushroom Travel Buddy by Luii and the Mushroom Bag by Moontea Artwork.

Seven Inches of Brilliance

Will Cole is a sick musician if you haven't heard. And I don't mean that he has a cold. It's unreal. I live with the dude, handwash his delicates, sleep by his side, and yet this man I know oh-so-intimately manages to shock and stun me on a regular basis with his insanely amazing guitar skills.

(Photo: Marcus Shaffer)

The band that currently benefits from his "ass-ripping guitar solos", is Olde Ghost. With a shirtless lead singer Marc Grillo, two killer girl guitarist and bassists, Dawn + Valerie, and with Adam on drums, Olde Ghost come correct every time. They last blew my socks off in a basement metal bar Midway, on the lower east side. Personally, my favorite show so far, partly due the myriad of mullets present and my new hero METAL JOHN.

If you aren't lucky enough to reside in New York to catch their shows regularly, then never fear, the Olde Ghost 7" is TOTALLY here!

Officially procured and finished on JULY 29th, William Battle Cole II's birthday, you can now get yourself a copy of the amazingly awesome, TOTALLY Olde Ghost 7" on Handstand Records. With a special Green Vinyl addition that looks so cool and represents Handstand's earth-friendly ethics.

With killer artwork by drummer Adam Paterson, this is an amazing feat. These dudes pulled this 7" off with amazing sound quality, a DIY process that looks super-tight and professional, yet has a really individual style and aesthetic. Mad props Handstand + Olde Ghost!

Style Icon Françoise Hardy

Françoise Hardy's music and style is classic, French, and lovely. Effortlessly chic, Hardy's messy hair, bold color choices, flawless make-up and soft Parisian sound takes you to a beatnik basement club with visions of Brassai's photographs gracing the walls.

Hardy has breezed through the decades aging like a good bottle of Bordeaux.

Spanish Moss Vintage is the Shop of the Week

The shop of the week will be Nest's only entry for the week, as I am gearing up and preparing for the EtsyTrashion Street Team Trunk Show this Friday night.

It is going to be killer, so you should show up if you're in New York. At the Etsy Lab Space on Gold Street in Brooklyn.

I could not resist stepping away from the sewing machine that is creating fashion from trash to peruse the lovely photography in the Spanish Moss Vintage shop. Taking the Upcycling Trashion concept to high fashion is what this fantastic store does. My girlfriend Alison from Sidedish told me to check out the beautiful photographs and unique looks they put together.

Spanish Moss Vintage has created a fleshed-out aesthetic to the on-line shop that combines the classic lines and looks of the past perfectly placed among the background of today. With a great eye for color and layout the photographs alone are good enough to wear.

Vintage Planters

Upcycling vintage planters is one of my many collections.

We added a few recently on our trip to Cabin Point with Will's fantastic mom, Mrs. C, leading the way at the antique mall.

Here are a few on Etsy that caught my eye. Earthgatherings and Dead Bird Finds (of course) shops have collections of great animal planters.

Even if you don't have a green thumb, these make great storage jars for spools of thread, buttons, keys by the front door, the mail, or spatulas or scissors, whatever you need to store in there.

Fool-proof planter formula:

*You'll Need:

-a handful of rocks or gravel
-soil
-a plant
-a chopstick or fork

*To Do List:

-put handful of gravel at the base of planter
-fill the planter with soil about 1/3-1/2 way full
-gently place the plant and it's roots in the planter
-fill the rest up with soil
-gently push the fork or chopstick into the topsoil several times, being very careful not to puncture the roots
-pour a small trickle of waer in to lightly saturate the roots in their new home, without flooding the planter and spilling topsoil

This is a very cool upcycled tire planter from Dutchess Craft's shop.
