Bowling Strikes Again

We pretty much go bowling every year on Will's birthday. Bowling has always been our favorite past time, ever since our embarrassing high school or college session when we accidentally wore the same outfit. (I blame that on the Gap in the 90's with their generic khaki cargo pants, plain t-shirts and grey hoodies that everyone had). Will's 25th was a big surprise, and after the mid-blowing proposal, I wanted to surprise him again, even just a little to show him how much ass he kicks.
This year's may have been the most fun yet, being in Brooklyn, being at Barcade's new alley, The Gutter, and being surrounded by amazing friends made Will's 28 one of our best bowling parties yet.

Most importantly, this year,
Biggie made an appearance. Thank you Barret, Mihai & Michaela, for e'rything.
Three Potato Four II

A few entries ago I introduced you to Three Potato Four, a great little on-line boutique that has a unique collection of usable art from various independent artists.
I love that there is a bit of a focus on nature, flora and fauna. They have so many lovely pieces, like this Birds + Tree Tray and this precious Talking Sparrow Vase.

Nest Sign
This adorable Nest tin sign is one of my favorite birthday gifts this year. My mom gave this to me from Reunions, a great shop in Northern Virginia.
Reunions is located at 1709 Centre Plaza in Alexandria, Virginia. To contact, call (703) 931-8161.
Syd & Arle's Nest

Here is a look into the Williamsburg, Brooklyn apartment of Sydney Fisher and Arle Bordos. Their home will be featured in a future 'Homies' episode, but until then, check out how warm, welcoming, eclectic and cool their ultra-clean, exposed brick pad is.
Filled with an excellent collection of novels, comics and an array of literature, Syd and Arle have tastes of family and friends sprinkled throughout their place.
Relics of places and people from their past and present, you get to know who lives here by being in their home.
Sydney has an eye for color and Arle has this place running like a well-oiled machine.

These neighbors and good friends work hard, play hard, and have a killer nest.

Their warmth, intelligence and humor is aesthetically evident in their home's stylish decor.

Book Club: The Anti-Bride

Being engaged can get quite overwhelming, which is why it is important to surround yourself with people you trust, love and who know how to keep you calm through huge, stressful decisions and events. Try to remember to take every step of this with a deep breath and a moment to connect with your fiance`. After all, it's not about the wedding, it's about committing yourself to your love, your partner, for the rest of your lives. Will and I are taking every day, each week, and making sure we have time to enjoy each other during this exciting time.
Being far from the cookie-cutter bride you see on the covers of all of the pink glossy bridal magazines, I have been looking for any indication that
there are other indie brides out there who want an alternative way to tie the knot. Elegant, beautiful, classy, yet representative of who we are as a couple. A very DIY and earth-friendly couple who doesn't want time, energy or money wasted on unsustainable, wedding-themed, one-use-only items. My best girl, Michaela no-middle-name Cullen always comes to the rescue, in serious times of need and when you just need a home girl to hear you out. So of course she found the two pieces of literature that will carry me through my engagement.
Michaela bought this fantastic and fun book, Anti-Bride, Etiquette Guide. You can find it on Amazon. Cala also gave me the above Eco-Chic Weddings for my birthday in mid-October. An incredibly helpful book written by Martha Stewart's event coordinator, Emily Elizabeth Anderson. She has that "Martha" eye, and the background of planning large-scale, yet intimate gatherings. The perfect person to help you have your most important day reflect your love of the environment. This doesn't mean any less class or elegance, it just shows you how to cut down on unnecessary waste, and have your wedding go along with your green lifestyle. It would be a shame to work hard making changes for the better, only to negate all of your positive steps forward by a wasteful wedding.

'Homies' Up-Date

The first episode of 'Homies', with several more to follow, will be up and running soon!
With a step-by-step guide to creating your own landscape mural, to a quick and easy project of up-cycling old coffee cans into vessels and decorative faux bois (woodgrain) containers.

Like my good friends and neighbors Sydney Fisher and Arle Bordos. They have a killer place in Williamsburg Brooklyn, just a short walk from our place. A great eclectic mix, and a cool and beautiful array of colors and eras, you always feel right at home at whomever's nest we visit.

With friends coming in to help out with projects and easy changes, 'Homies' will help you make your house a home.
Get ready for quick and easy home decor.
As always, turn the volume on, up, and enjoy the pilot!
